Due to its short proximity, planning a foodie trip to Rosarito and Tijuana is easy to do. Your taste buds will be thanking you...that, I can assure you of.
So leave the meal planning for 2022 and get over to Baja!
I'm sure that you've heard about the carne asada tacos in these two cities. But please don't sell yourself short, as many establishments serve a great variety ranging from a heavily spiced, shawarma-style meat called adobada, or tacos al pastor. You can also never go wrong with ordering suadero, head, or tongue– a Mexican delicacy.
In Tijuana, our taco shop list seems endless, but you have to try tacos from Taqueria El Franc, Los Poblanos, Taconazo, Los Salceados, Las Ahumaderas. Rosarito also has its share of must-try taquerias, but some of the restaurants that stand out are El Yaqui, Manuel, El Zurdo.
Tijuana is known as the mecca of food trucks, but Rosarito is not far behind as it offers this rich combination of urban and gourmet cuisine.
And what is better than a gourmet food truck? A food truck collective where you can find a variety of options. Some of our favorite food truck parks in Tijuana include La Telefónica, El Punto Food Truck, and El Jardín to mention a few. In Rosarito we love visiting Plaza Food Fest, Colectivo Surf, Villa Turística Gastro Park. These food truck parks are a great option when visiting with a group of friends or family because everyone will have the opportunity to fulfill their cravings.
Both cities also have restaurant options recognized for offering modern cuisine with regional flavors. In Tijuana, many enjoy eating out at Fin de California, Casa Plascencia, Café Riocha 7, Tras / Horizonte, and Gulisano´s. In Rosarito, Chefs have been stepping up their game at Roble de Raíz, Raíces, Lazzo de Tinto, Pasta y Basta, Betuccini's Pizzeria & Trattoria.
Most importantly, don't forget to try the dishes created in this region that have put Tijuana and Rosarito on the map for international cuisine. The Caesar's Salad, which was created in Tijuana, and the Puerto Nuevo Style Lobster, which is cooked right outside of Rosarito.
This holiday season, who cares about gaining a couple extra pounds. Treat yourself to delectable dishes before having to follow those New Year's resolutions. Bon apetit!
