The San Ysidro Border

The San Ysidro Port of Entry has 26 vehicle lanes segmented into three types of travelers; Trusted Traveler, Ready Lane and General Traffic:


And Global Entry are U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Trusted Traveler programs that allow expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival to the United States. Entrance to this lane is through Blvd. Padre Kino.

Ready Lane

To use Ready Lane you will need a WHTI-compliant, RFID-enabled card or book approved by the Department of Homeland Security. Entrance to this lane is through Vía Rápida.

General Traffic

For all documents; U.S. Passport Book, Lincoln Visa, DHS Travel Documents, Parole Letters, ADIT Stamp, Native American Tribal Photo Identification Cards, and or two-documents denoting citizenship and identity. Entrance is through Dist. Caracol Zona del Rio.

Fruits and Vegetables

Foreign insects, animal and plant diseases and invasive plants can be harmful to United States agriculture. The following is a partial list of fresh fruits and vegetables that are allowed entry into the United States from Mexico for personal consumption, but only after they passed inspection and haver been found free of any pests or diseases.

Meats and Animal Products

The following types of meats and animal products are allowed to be imported: pork that is canned (shelf-stable), poultry that has been thoroughly cooked, while beef, sheep, and goat meats may be imported raw or cooked.

Live Plants and Seeds

Plants and seeds imported for propagation require a phytosanitary certificate from the Government of Mexico and an import permit from USDA. The import of soil is prohibited.
