Valle de Los Cirios in Cataviña

Extreme Nature in the Heart of the Desert

Valle de los Cirios, located in the Central Desert of Baja California (known as Cataviña), is a protected natural jewel and an important biological corridor between the Vizcaíno Desert and the Sierra de San Pedro Mártir. This area is home to an impressive diversity of flora and fauna, including the cirio (Fouquieria columnaris), an endemic desert tree that can reach up to 15 meters in height, in addition to giant cardon cactus, torotes and other cacti that adorn the landscape along with gigantic granite formations.

The valley has 600 kilometers of coastline that stretch between the Gulf of California and the Pacific Ocean, offering a spectacular contrast between the desert and the sea. Its secluded and clean coasts are ideal for camping and enjoying extensive beaches and cliffs that offer unforgettable views.
