San Quintín has the natural characteristics to provide shelter and food for thousands of birds. It is a unique site in Baja California, featuring wetlands, sandy beaches, marshes, and extinct volcanoes.

The Bird Festival has been held since 2015 as a community event to promote the protection of birds in San Quintín Bay. It offers two days of environmental education and low-impact outdoor activities:
