If you’re planning for an upcoming trip to Tijuana and its surroundings to have great leisure experiences while practicing social distancing.Arrival:
It is very important to follow the authorities’ recommendations regarding the proper usage of your face mask, and all the extreme hygiene and cleaning measures so you can enjoy the city, and have great memorable experiences.
If you are arriving at Tijuana's International Airport, you’ll be able to quickly exit the terminal without the need to go through any sanitary checkpoints. This also applies when traveling by land; when entering Mexico from the United States or driving through Baja California to visit nearby cities such as Rosarito, Ensenada, Tecate, or Mexicali.
The state’s economic reactivation strategies have allowed restaurants, hotels, and cafes to reopen their doors to the new normal as they have incorporated extreme hygiene and cleaning measures to take care of visitors and locals alike.
For your safety, every establishment will display the certificate stating compliance with all the official health protocols.
Please be a considerate and responsible tourist. Remember:
- Always wear your face mask when visiting enclosed spaces.
- Carry hand sanitizer at all times.
- Wash your hands frequently.
- Practice social distancing.
- If possible, call the hotel or restaurant before your arrival to make sure they save a place for you and your companions, to prevent waiting, and avoid
- crowd gatherings.
- Please be patient with the establishment’s employees and their safety measures, they are only trying to help you have the best experience possible.

At the airport, there will be a special safety checkpoint with an infrared thermometer. The use of face masks and social distancing is mandatory.
Your airline might ask you to follow additional health protocols, find out by contacting the airline before your arrival at the airport.
If you are driving back, returning will be as usual without any safety protocols from the Mexican authorities. Please remember there are travel restrictions when going through the Tijuana - San Diego Border; only US citizens, residents, and essential workers may cross to the United States.
The medical lane is fully operational, patients or medical personnel may cross daily from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Make sure that the medical center or doctor you are visiting is still providing ground transportation.
Essentially, traveling to and from Tijuana is the same as it was before.
